About Pennant Games

Pennant Games is a basketball simulation game where you build teams from all-time legends, current NBA stars, college prospects, and legacy on-chain players — then compete in exhibitions, leagues, and series.

What Is It?

At its core, Pennant Games is a possession-by-possession basketball simulator. Every game plays out based on player attributes, coaching settings, fatigue, matchups, and momentum — not random dice rolls. The result is realistic basketball with full box scores, shot charts, play-by-play, and AI-generated game recaps.

How to Play

  • Exhibition games — pick any players, set your starters, and simulate a game or series instantly. No league required.
  • Leagues — create or join a league with friends. Draft players, manage your roster, trade, and compete through a full season with playoffs and awards.
  • Legacy players — if you hold players from the original on-chain basketball project, connect your Ethereum wallet to claim them.

The Engine

Games are simulated with a detailed engine that models individual defensive matchups, positional chemistry, hot/cold streaks, clutch performance, fatigue-based substitutions, and coaching strategy. Every shot, rebound, steal, and turnover is determined by the 15 skill attributes each player carries.

Player Data

Player ratings are derived from real basketball statistics — career per-game averages for legends and NBA players, pace-adjusted stats for college prospects. The system uses era adjustments (1990s-2000s slow-pace era gets volume stats scaled up), team context discounts (players on stacked college rosters get reduced credit), and age-based prospect bonuses. All ratings are position-weighted so guards aren't penalized for low rebounding and centers aren't penalized for low three-point shooting.
